Duchovny Wants To Evolve David Duchovny--the X-Files co-star who's appearing in the upcoming SF comedy movie Evolution--told E! Online that he's ready for a break from the genre. "I don't think there will be aliens in the next movie I do," Duchovny told the site. "It's going to start to be suspect. I need to go to a shaman and be healed of this energy that keeps attracting movies with aliens."
In the Ivan-Reitman-directed Evolution, Duchovny must struggle against rapidly evolving microbes. "One of the great pleasures of acting is getting away from whatever the hell bothers you," Duchovny said. "That's the hidden perk. Although I would say that even if a movie is goofy or funny, it's not goofy or funny to make. I felt uncomfortable and challenged, which is good."
The film makes ample use of Duchovny's dry wit. "In Aliens 3, the aliens looked cool, and the fact that people didn't laugh didn't make it a failure," he said. "But in this case, it would. For example, today I've been fighting with a big blue monkey--and that's not even on the set!" Evolution is slated to open in June.
