VO--Lisa Joyner's voice over
Quick introduction from a local news anchor.
Clip from "The Beginning" was shown. (Mulder and Scully)
VO: A new life form is about to come between David Duchovny and wife
Téa Leoni. Téa is expecting.
DD: It's not as hard as I thought it would be. (hearty laugh) Being
pregnant, you know. I don't know why people complain. (big grin)
VO: Duchovny is thrilled about becoming a dad for the first time,
but he's not rushing into it.
LJ: Do you have any idea what it is......except a baby. The sex?
DD: Yeah. I have an idea. (laughs) No. I don't wanna... I wanna be
surprised.
LJ: Oh, that's good. That's old-fashioned.
DD: (bobbing his head and looking back and forth) Okay, you know,
there's the head, but I'm looking for the midsection. (laughs)
VO: Before that, they've got to pick out names.
LJ: I have some ideas.
DD: Yeah. Go ahead. We're open.
LJ: Chutney. (DD laughs) Put it together. Say it.
DD: Chutney Duchovny. Muchovy Duchovny, but Téa won't give
me that so...it's gonna be...our next dog will be Muchovy.
VO: (Several magazine covers are rapidly shown) Tracking the paranormal
has made Duchovny a magazine regular and one would guess by reading December's
Playboy interview, he often finds it amusing. In it, he admits to smoking
opium, porno pleasures, and stealing as a child, but all the attention isn't
something he takes too seriously.
DD: (referring to previous magazine article) I like what they said
for the job of movie star. I like that they called it a job. They said,"Most
overeducated for the job of movie star," like you know, you fill out an
application. (pretends he's writing with a pen)
Clip from "The Beginning" was shown. (Mulder & Spender)
VO: What he does take seriously is work, and that workload just got
heavier. (clip from "Triangle" is shown) Duchovny will direct an episode
of the X-Files that he wrote later this season.
DD: I've had a few ideas that we've done as episodes. I've never written
one and I guess I was gonna go about it the same way and just give the idea
away and have other people write it, but they were all busy...so I just sat
down and tried to write it myself.
VO: He admits directing is gonna be kind of scary...
Clip from "The End" is shown. (Mulder and Scully)
VO: ....but Spooky is his middle name.
Clip from the movie is shown in which he's telling the barmaid his life
story.
